Four members of Italian family banned for doping offences
The Italian Olympic Committee has banned several members of one family from sporting events in Italy for doping offences. An anti-doping tribunal by the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano has handed down a five-year ban to the cyclist Lorenzo Bernucci, according to Italian media. His wife, Valentina Borgioli, mother Antonella Rossi and father-in-law Fabrizio Borgioli, have been banned from all sport for four years while his brother Alessio Bernucci was handed a three-year ban after being linked to blood doping by a Padua prosecutor. Bernucci did not test positive, but the investigation involved wiretaps and testimony. He was suspended by the Lampré team after a police raid in April. He tested positive for a non-amphetamine appetite suppressant in 2007.
