The Snows of Kilimanjaro – review

This is a film about taking the time to see the bigger picture. When trade unionist Michel (Darroussin) and his wife Marie Claire (Ascaride) have their idyllic and selfless lives shattered by a crime, they are forced to take stock. Are their good deeds really good enough? Are the criminals really all bad? This beautifully performed film earns all its impressive emotional moments by following them as the couple try to right themselves; it's a thrill to see if their innate decency will prevail. It's made with a sure and steady hand that never takes shortcuts with its important message.
