Abdul Razzaq blasts Leicestershire past Lancashire in Friends Life t20
Abdul Razzaq smashed Leicestershire to the most unlikely of victories, 24 hours after arriving in the country. The Pakistan all-rounder hit an unbeaten 62 from 30 balls as the Foxes, who needed 63 off the last four of their 19 overs, won with a ball to spare. The 16th over was the turning point. Steven Croft, captaining Lancashire in the absence of the injured Glen Chapple, brought himself on from the Pavilion End. Razzaq launched his occasional off-breaks for three sixes – and was also dropped by Stephen Moore. That miss turned out to cost Lancashire their unbeaten record in their fourth game of the marathon Twenty20 campaign. Wayne White played an intelligent supporting role to Razzaq, after coming in with the Foxes on 99 for six, then launched a six in each of the last two overs. "Well played to my colleague Mr White," Razzaq said in his post-match interview, after being named man of the match, presumably struggling to remember the names of his latest set of team-mates. Leicestershire's other overseas player, the Australian opener Andrew MacDonald, had anchored their innings with 57 off 40 balls but Lancashire's three left-arm spinners – Gary Keedy, Simon Kerrigan and Stephen Parry – restricted the run rate in the middle overs. Razzaq was also the pick of Leicestershire's bowlers, taking one for 29 from his four overs.
