Met Police signs mobile deal
The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) is also involved in the four year deal, which will be available to other police services around the country. It involves providing support for voice, data and email services. Vodafone, which is already supplying mobile services to the MPS, will continue to support its network of mobiles and begin to manage some of its BlackBerrys. Peter Kelly, enterprise director for Vodafone, said the framework will help the MPS and other police forces to make better use of communications technology to improve productivity and reduce costs. In the tender notice, published in February 2010, the MPS said the deal would be worth £16m if used only by itself, but that if other forces took it up the figure could rise as high as £64m.
