Creepers reach out towards the facade of a derelict pizza shop in Belfast Photograph: Feldore McHugh/Flickr Dead Eyes . Not a cheerful one for St. Patrick's Day, a derelict shop on Belfast's Lisburn Road Photograph: Feldore McHugh/Flickr Nature Comes Calling . Entrance to an empty, boarded-up house off Belfast's Lisburn Road Photograph: Feldore McHugh/Flickr Signs of the Times . The recession brings not just broken shops and broken houses - I counted seven boarded-up houses in this street - but also broken lives. The Samaritans is a charity that provides emotional support for people who are in despair, and possibly feeling suicidal.
