David Haye and Wladimir Klitschko venue struggling to cope with rain
The venue for David Haye's clash with Wladimir Klitschko has been hit by heavy rain, causing lights at ringside to pop, but the world heavyweight title fight is not currently thought to be under threat. Adam Booth, Haye's trainer, inspected the ring are at around 6.45pm local time and appeared relaxed about the rain. Despite the large canopy protecting the fight area and the covering over the ring canvas, nearly all of the seating was damp and had to be protected by plastic. Television positions near the ring but just beyond the canopy had be covered by sheeting and umbrellas, and lights in the arena on the gantry over the ring popped, a fault attributed to the conditions. Large sections of the Imtech Arena, the home of Hamburg football club, are uncovered and five hours ahead of the fight the rain was still pouring. Those who have paid for the most expensive seats beyond the ringside VIP area will be most affected. Meanwhile, Booth was claiming that the weight reading for his fighter was wrong, and that he was 14st 12lb.
