Let's Dance for Sport Relief grabs 5.6m

It's all for charity but it also gives BBC1 some extra va-va-voom in its Saturday night ratings battle with ITV1. Let's Dance for Sport Relief was BBC1's most-popular programme of the day with 5.6 million viewers, a 25.3% share between 7pm and 8.20pm. The charity dance show, now into its fourth series, beat an ITV1 lineup including Harry Hill's TV Burp, with 4.9 million viewers (21.8%) between 7.35pm and 8.05pm, and the opening of dating show Take Me Out, watched by 4.7 million viewers between 8.05pm and 9.20pm. BBC1 also had the edge later in the evening with Casualty watched by 5.2 million viewers (23.4%) at 9.10pm against 3.2 million (14.7%) for ITV1's The Jonathan Ross Show at 9.20pm. Teatime celebrity gameshow faceoff BBC1's Pointless Celebrities – like Pointless, but with Celebrities – had 4.2 million viewers, a 21.4% share between 6.05pm and 7pm. It beat ITV1's All Star Family Fortunes, the celebrity edition of the show which goes back farther than any of us care to remember. Our survey said 3.7 million viewers, a 19% share, between 6.05pm and 7.05pm. I'm in a bank! Channel 4 gameshow The Bank Job, fronted by George Lamb, had 1.4 million viewers (6.3%) between 9.10pm and 10.10pm. It beat BBC2 documentary I'm In A Girl Group!, part of an evening of light entertainment documentaries, which had an interest rate of 1.1 million viewers (5%), between 9.20pm and 10.20pm. All ratings are Barb overnight figures, including live, +1 (except for BBC and some other channels including Sky1) and same day timeshifted (recorded) viewing, but excluding on demand, or other – unless otherwise stated.
