23 November 1963: Assassin's bullet kills President Kennedy
Lee Harvey Oswald, the man accused of shooting Kennedy, was himself shot and killed whilst being held in Dallas County Jail. In 1963, President Johnson set up the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of Kennedy which concluded that Oswald acted alone in the shooting. Oswald's motives for killing Kennedy are still shrouded in mystery.
