Tottenham Hotspur complete deal for Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of the Croatia goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa from Spartak Moscow on a season-long loan. The 31-year-old had hoped to move to Spurs last January only to fail a medical, but has spent a large portion of summer on trial with his new club and is now expected to provide backup to Heurelho Gomes. Spurs are believed to have an option to make the deal full-time at the end of the season. Pletikosa, who has 80 caps for his country, takes Tottenham's contingent of Croatian players to four, joining Luka Modric, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar on Harry Redknapp's playing staff. With Gomes currently carrying a groin injury, Pletikosa could make his Tottenham debut at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday week, leapfrogging Carlo Cudicini and Ben Alnwick in the club's goalkeeping pecking order.
