NHS Shared Business Services seeks IS deal
NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) is looking to set up a framework to make a range of clinical information systems available to trusts. It has estimated that contracts delivered through the framework will be worth between £25m and £60m. A tender notice in the Official Journal of the European Union says that some of the clinical information systems will support NHS staff by improving the quality of patient data. NHS SBS, a joint venture between the Department of Health and Steria which provides back office processing services, says that the framework will also cover systems to improve the information and resource base for research and development, clinical audits, teaching and training. Another area covered by the deal will be systems for the management and administration of clinical and non-clinical services. The framework will be agreed for an initial five years, but could be extended to seven. This article is published by Guardian Professional.
