Tour de France 2012: The final stage – procession into Paris
WHAT YOU'LL SEE Sunday's 20th and final stage begins in Rambouillet at 1pm BST and the riders, nearing the end of their 2,000-mile journey, roll to Paris in good spirits. A Tour tradition is for Wiggins, as race leader, to be served champagne by his team early on. Wiggins should have few worries – an unwritten rule is that riders do not attack en route to Paris, with the day's competitive cycling left to the sprinters on the Champs Élysées at around 3pm . The riders do eight laps of the Champs Elysées circuit before crossing the finish line at around 4.15pm . The Garmin rider David Millar says: "There's a classic moment when you are riding along the Seine and see the Eiffel Tower. It is always a lovely feeling. The Champs Elysées is different, it's amazing how no one has any idea how hard it is there. You don't see on television that you are going up and downhill on cobblestones. The adrenaline and the excitement get you through, you hold on for dear life and the best bit comes when you pull off on the Place de la Concorde, go to your team bus and do the lap of honour. Then it's really over." COVERAGE SHIFTED TO ITV1 Until Friday the Tour was played out on ITV4, but Sunday'sfinale, like Wiggins's time trial triumph, will be shown live on ITV1 from 2-5pm to maximise the audience for British sport's historic day. Eurosport's coverage begins at 12.30pm .
