Muriel's Wedding duo Toni Collette and PJ Hogan to reunite

The story of an Abba -obsessed young woman who develops a fantasy life launched the Hollywood careers of both star Toni Collette and director PJ Hogan. Now the Muriel's Wedding alumni are to reunite on a new film 17 years after the release of the quintessential Aussie comedy, Variety reports . Mental will be Hogan's first Australian film since he left for the bright lights of Los Angeles, and features Collette as a batty but charismatic nanny hired to look after the five daughters of a local politician who has just committed his wife to a hospital. The film-maker has steered movies such as My Best Friend's Wedding and Confessions of a Shopaholic during his time in Hollywood. Collette is perhaps best known for her roles in The Sixth Sense , Little Miss Sunshine and About a Boy . Mental is being financed by Screen Australia, whose Ruth Harley said: "PJ Hogan is a hugely talented film-maker. Add into the mix the delicious prospect of PJ teaming up again with Toni Collette, one of Australia's most gifted comic actresses, and we look set to see a wildly entertaining film." Collette will next be seen on the big screen in a remake of 80s horror Fright Night , in which she plays the mother of a teenager (Anton Yelchin) who discovers that their charismatic new neighbour (Colin Farrell) is a vampire.
