Camilla Hammer is named chief executive of Shine International

Shine Group, the Rupert Murdoch-owned maker of shows including MasterChef, has appointed Camilla Hammer as chief executive of its international sales and distribution arm. Hammer is a 12-year veteran of Modern Times Group – which runs free and pay TV stations in 24 countries and was behind the launch of the Metro newspaper franchise – and will join Shine International early next year. She replaces Chris Grant, who left to run Ben Silverman's production company Electus after it emerged that Shine International was relocating from Los Angeles to London, and will run a team of 42. Shine International is responsible for exploiting Shine productions such as The Biggest Loser, The Family and One Born Every Minute in international markets. Hammer will report to Alex Mahon, the president of Shine Group. At Modern Times Group, which also owns a number of radio stations in Scandanavia and the Baltics, Hammer most recently held the position of senior vice-president of acquisitions. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
