Readers' panel: Which band represents the best of British?

If there's one thing we've learned from this summer of glorious sport, it's that Britain has a proud musical heritage. The Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies revolved around British pop, celebrating everything from punk to grime. If you were planning your own celebration of modern British music who would you pick as the headline act? We'd like you to make a case for Britain's best band today. Do you favour the choppy guitar rock of Arctic Monkeys or the operatic grandeur of Muse? Is Britain's best band one that regularly tops the charts or is it one that you feel has been commercially overlooked? Whatever your answers to these questions, we'd like to hear from you. If you'd like to participate, please email [email protected] before 8am on Friday 28 September, with up to 150 words stating your case for Britain's best band. When you email, please include your Guardian username and your real name (let us know if you object to having your real name used). We'll pick a number of entries for publication. The subject line of your email should be "Readers' panel".
