Passenger plane makes emergency landing at Belfast airport

A passenger plane has made a successful emergency landing at Belfast international airport after reporting problems with its landing gear. Emergency crews were on standby at Aldergrove airport as a flight to Tenerife reported difficulties shortly after take-off. The Airbus 320 Thomas Cook service, which took off from Belfast, had been circling above Lough Neagh to lose fuel. The air traffic control company Nats said the plane had touched down without incident. Thomas Cook said the aircraft had 175 people on board. A spokesman for the firm said: "A replacement aircraft is on its way and we expect to get everyone off on their holidays to Tenerife this afternoon." More details soon.
