Departures can be negative or positive, for to depart means to leave somewhere as well as to go, to head for another place. They can be long-anticipated or sudden, borne from necessity. The romantic image of the lone troubadour hitting the road suggests musicians and songwriters may often have been inspired by departures. So what are your favourite songs about departures?
