Second shot: An amateur takes to the riser

Like last time, I was at nearly at the front of the riser, slightly to the right, perching uncomfortably on a camera box so as to shoot over the sitting cameraman in front of me. This time I was shooting with the Canon EOS ID MK IV using a tripod. This first picture is obviously a bit of a cheat - they didn't send clones down the catwalk, this is actually two shots put together. Maybe a third with her walking away would have been good - a model triptych Photograph: Kate Carter/Guardian I quite like the sense of movement in this picture. When you actually see catwalk shows, it's amazing how ungainly and awkward the models are, with that peculiar gait. Photograph: Kate Carter/Guardian With a lot of taupe/beige clothes against the taupe/beige background, lots of my full length shots came out oddly sepia toned. Photograph: Kate Carter/Guardian I seem to have shot a lot of the back of model's heads in this show. But I liked her hair and the detail at the back of the neck on her dress was more interesting than the front. Photograph: Kate Carter/guardian.co.uk The light on her face isn't very good, but she is such an elegant-looking woman. Lots of the models at these shows are actually amazingly unphotogenic. Photograph: Kate Carter/guardian.co.uk I have no idea what I was thinking here, but if nothing else, it shows you the lack of flesh on a models' thighs ... Photograph: Kate Carter/guardian.co.uk Zany angle alert! Photograph: Kate Carter/guardian.co.uk Beige beige and more beige. It is really hard to get an interesting angle on the final exits at the show, and clearly in my case also a half decent shot. Photograph: Kate Carter/Guardian
