The Cat in the Hat is driving me mad, but my children love it. What else is there?

Is there anything else to match the Cat in the Hat books? My children love them and recite them at any opportunity, but we've read them so many times that they're driving me mad. We've tried others but always come back to Dr Seuss. Are there alternatives? Dr Seuss is hard to match. If you appreciate Seuss-style illustrations and dry humour, there are other similar US authors, such as the Berenstains , Jan, Stan and Michael, and Jon Scieszka , who spring to mind. But British writers can do it too. Allan Ahlberg is also excellent for brevity, understatement and wit. From his picture books, such as Burglar Bill and Funnybones, to his Happy Families series, Ahlberg tells stories that are funny and stimulating.
