Transport for London appoints new CIO
Transport for London (TfL) has appointed Steve Townsend, the current director of information management, to a new role which will merge the jobs of chief information officer and director of information management. He will begin his new job in January 2012, when he will take over from current chief information officer Ian Campbell. A spokeswoman for TfL said that Campbell chose not to be considered for the new joint role. "The principle tasks of the combined role will be to deliver the programme of services improvements and investments in IM and integrating the two IM teams," she said. Combining the two roles is part of TfL's ongoing efficiency programme, under which the number of directors are being reduced by 25%. This article is published by Guardian Professional.
