New Order to headline Bestival 2012

New Order will headline the Saturday night at this year's Bestival , joining a bill that includes Sigur Rós, the xx, Justice and Azealia Banks. This will be the Manchester band's first UK festival date in seven years. Bestival also announced Saturday appearances by Friendly Fires, Death in Vegas and the much-hyped art-rockers Django Django . There will also be DJ sets by Doctor P, Pearson Sound and Israel's Borgore, among others. As always, Bestival will host spoken-word and sketch groups at Scroobius Pip's Lizard Lounge, including the Unexpected Items, whose Gap Yah video was a viral hit last year. "True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle, Fine Time, Regret – so many amazing records I grew up listening to and they still sound immense, pioneering, legendary," said Bestival's Rob da Bank. "It doesn't get better than that." Despite claims that the band was dead and gone , New Order re-formed last summer . Gone was bassist Peter Hook, back was keyboardist Gillian Gilbert. Following benefit concerts for film-maker Michael Shamberg, the group announced a tour, including gigs in Australia and several European festivals. They released a concert album, Live at the London Troxy, in late December. Bestival will take place on the Isle of Wight, from 6 to 9 September. Tickets are on sale now.
