Old and new homes – in pictures

Historic home: Cheshire. Converted chapels often throw up interesting room shapes, but the rooms in this £325,000 two-bed Hale property – one of three in the chapel – are fairly standard, if stylish. With rooms set across four floors, the kitchen is downstairs on a lower ground floor, the living and dining room are on the ground floor, and the bedrooms – each with their own en suite – are on floors one and two. The property is at the rear of the chapel so benefits from its own west-facing courtyard. It might look dinky from the outside, but this two-bed, Grade II-listed mews house on Marlborough’s high street is deceptively spacious. The bathroom is on the ground floor next to the kitchen, and the bedrooms are spread over a floor each, with the slightly bigger one measuring 16’10” by nearly 12’. It is beautifully done, but quite expensive for a first home in Wiltshire. Cost: £250,000. For a brand-new house the kitchen of this four bedder in Liskeard already looks dated, like it’s escaped from the nineties. The bad news is that buyers won’t get any choice of fittings, but the rest of the house is pleasing (if you ignore the interior designer-chosen furniture) and it is sited in a quiet cul-de-sac. Yours for £230,000. Click here or call Julian Marks, 01752 876125 Photograph: Julian Marks Photograph: Action images New build: Greater Manchester. Simple, straightforward and big – this four-bed detached house in Stockport is the Tyrone Dobbs of the property world (Corrie fans will know what I mean). The rooms are spacious and well thought out, with solid oak flooring, and the garden is a huge expanse of grass – a challenge for any keen gardener to rip up and design into something special. The only negative is the windows in a couple of the bedrooms, which look a little on the mean side. On the market for £325,000.
