Tim Bresnan retains England place for second Test
It was lucky 13 for Tim Bresnan at Trent Bridge on Friday as he retained his place in England's team for the second Test. The Yorkshireman had been thought vulnerable after being out for a duck and taking a single wicket in the first Test win at Lord's, with many tipping Steve Finn to join James Anderson and Stuart Broad in the pace attack. But England named an unchanged team, giving Bresnan the chance to extend his 100% winning record in Test appearances to 13. Victory in this game would bring him level with Stuart Clark, the former Australia seamer, and leave him only two behind Adam Gilchrist's all-time record. Jonny Bairstow, meanwhile, has qualified for an incremental England contract following his Test debut at Lord's last week. The Yorkshireman was not among the initial group of contracted players for the 2011-12 season but collected enough caps to earn the additional payment. As expected, West Indies made two changes, with Ravi Rampaul and Shane Shillingford coming into their bowling attack in place of Fidel Edwards and the injured Shannon Gabriel. West Indies won the toss and chose to bat on a fine morning in Nottingham.
