London #Mayor2012: Help us track the candidates' election campaigns
In the hope of becoming the next mayor of London, political parties will be ramping up their campaign ahead of the 3 May mayoral election – and we're launching a map to track their movements. The period from now until voting day promises the usual influx of leaflets through doors, giant posters and door-to-door campaigning – and most likely the usual few surprises along the way. Alongside our extensive campaign coverage, all of which you can find here , we're calling on readers to help us track the candidates as they go about their campaigns – to give us a visual idea of which areas of London each party is targeting as well as their methods and tactics. You can help us keep track of candidates as they increase their presence and promote themselves in your local area by submitting a report to our #Mayor2012 map. You can submit a report using the form below. We are looking for reports on the following: • Have you seen campaign literature for a party ? Upload your pictures of election leaflets to electionleaflets.org and paste the picture url in the form below so we can plot them on a map. • Has a candidate been out and about in your area or going door to door to get your vote? Tell us by submitting a report using the form below and help us verify this report by leaving a link to a local news report, picture or video. You can also tweet when you see candidate activity in your area using the hashtag #Mayor2012 , which we'll be following to see your reports – be sure to include the candidate's name, party, activity and postcode if you can. Don't forget to use the general hashtag for the elections which is #VoteLondon . You can see a list of the candidates who have come forward so far here and find out more details on how to vote in the mayoral elections here. You can also use the form to tell us any campaign stories – seen placards dismantled, posters taken down or something untoward on an election leaflet? Use the form below to tell us so we can investigate the report. Leave a comment below with suggestions for #Mayor2012 and how we might track the candidates.
