Football transfer rumours: Dimitar Berbatov to Galatasaray?

Galatasaray are to bid £5m for Dimitar Berbatov , precisely the figure Spurs have had accepted by United's local rivals for Emmanuel Adebayor . The latter deal is doomed to failure, though, because Adebayor wants to keep that entire £5m for himself simply for agreeing to leave, and City think that's taking the concept of chutzpah a little bit too far. Some better news for Spurs – as if the fact they're not going to sign Adebayor isn't good enough – is that André Villas-Boas is close to landing Porto's Christian Atsu for £7.8m. Christian, who? Bless you. Liverpool want Athletic Bilbao's Fernando Amorebieta , but will have to spend at least £12m to land him and even then the Basque side will feel a bit miffed, seeing as his contractual buy-out is set at double that figure. Wigan are moving closer to £4m Real Mallorca ace Ivan Ramis , who like Amorebieta is a 27-year-old defender. Ramis probably won't be lining up next to Victor Moses , who is miffed to high heaven that he hasn't been sold to Chelsea yet and has started stamping his feet. Prodigy news, and Manchester City want the 17-year-old Caen striker M'baye Niang, a former Arsenal target now presumably considered over the hill at the Emirates. Newcastle and Fulham are eyeing the 19-year-old Bolton striker Sanmi Odelusi , who doesn't even have a Wikipedia page but does still appear to be a real human. And Arsenal are targeting the £20m Spanish starlet Santi Cazorla even though he's already pretty ancient, as the replacement for perma-crocked Jack Wilshere. Down the divisions we go, and news that Ipswich won't sell their left-back Aaron Cresswell to Aston Villa unless the Premier League side double their £3m offer. "The price has to be right for us," insisted Tractor Boy honcho Paul Jewell. Nottingham Forest want to sign Greg Halford from Portsmouth, a move complicated by the fact that although Pompey signed him from Wolves last summer, they still haven't finished paying for him. Forest may have to forward Wolves the missing £200,000 before the deal can happen.
