Job: chairman, Bauer Media Group Age: 72 Industry: publishing, broadcasting New entry You may not know the name but you know the brands – Heat, Grazia, Kiss, Magic; Heinz Bauer's family-run company reaches more than 19 million adults in the UK. Started by his great-great-grandfather in 1875, Bauer's UK presence – previously the likes of Take a Break and TV Quick – was transformed by the £1.1bn purchase of Emap's consumer magazines and radio business in 2008. Europe's largest privately owned publishing group, it is active in 15 countries around the world, including the US, Russia and China. Paul Keenan is chief executive of Bauer's UK operations but our panel said: "Heinz is the real decision-maker behind Bauer." Bauer took over from his father in 1963 – all four of his daughters hold senior roles in the company – and is said to be worth about £2bn. But he guards his privacy, so don't expect to see him in Heat any time soon.
