The highlight was our first medal at any level at a European or World Championships since 1999. Zoe Smith won silver at the European Youth Championships in the 58kg category. Peter Kirkbride finished 9th at the European Championships in April, in the 95kg category. Three of our female lifters finished in the top 10 in their events at the same Championships. In the next two years we will … be looking for athletes to win medals at the Commonwealth Games in October 2010, then expect all athletes in line for selection for London 2012 to be getting close to the selection standard total in 2011, to ensure a very competitive selection period.
