Panorama special on Stephen Lawrence watched by 2.6m viewers
BBC1's Panorama special about Stephen Lawrence was watched by 2.6 million viewers on Tuesday night. The 60-minute edition of the current affairs strand, which replaced the first episode of Anna Friel three-part drama Public Enemies at short notice following the convictions of Gary Dobson and David Norris on Tuesday afternoon , had a 10.5% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm on Tuesday. Panorama's Lawrence special was narrowly up against the launch of a new series of ITV1 diet show The Biggest Loser, which had 2.8 million viewers, an 11.2% share, between 9pm and 10pm, rising to 3 million with ITV1+1. The slot was won by BBC2 documentary King George and Queen Mary: the Royals Who Rescued The Monarchy, which was watched by 3.6 million viewers, a 14.4% share, including 184,000 on the BBC HD channel. Elsewhere at 9pm, Channel 4 documentary Accused: the 74 Stone Babysitter had 2.2 million viewers, an 8.7% share, rising to 2.5 million with Channel 4+1. Channel 5's Val Kilmer action adventure film repeat Thirteen: Conspiracy, averaged 1 million viewers, a 5.5% share, rising to 1.1 million and 5.8% including Channel 5+1. Public Enemies will now begin its three-part run on Wednesday and air on consecutive nights until Friday. The new series of Hustle, which was due to begin on BBC1 on Friday, has been put back a week. Weird overnights Expect more weird nature on BBC2 after Nature's Weirdest Events proved an unlikely hit with 4 million viewers, a 15.6% share, between 8pm and 9pm, including 169,000 viewers on BBC HD. The first of a two-parter fronted by Springwatch's Chris Packham, Nature's Weirdest Events beat ITV1's Celebrity Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which could only manage 3.5 million viewers (13.5%), rising to 3.6 million with ITV1+1. Channel 4's personal trainer show The Fat Fighters began its five-part run with a slim 1 million viewers (4%), increasing to 1.2 million with Channel 4+1. Fat Fighters was beaten by the return of Channel 5's Cowboy Builders, which began its sixth run with 1.2 million viewers, a 4.6% share, rising to 1.3 million and 5.1% with Channel 5+1. The 8pm slot was won by BBC1's medical behemoth Holby City, with 5.4 million viewers (21.2%). Bank Job gains marginal interest Channel 4's much-hyped new gameshow The Bank Job, fronted by George Lamb, was watched by 1.1 million viewers, a 6.1% share, between 10pm and 11.05pm, rising to 1.3 million with Channel 4+1. It was up, but only slightly, on the 1.2 million total audience who watched Monday night's debut . The 10pm slot was won by the BBC News on BBC1, with 5.3 million viewers, a 24.7% share. ITV1's News at Ten had 1.8 million viewers, an 8.4% share, rising to 1.9 million with ITV1+1. Song in BBC4's heart The Story of Musicals on BBC4 began on the right note with 1.04 million viewers, a 4.2% share, between 9pm and 10pm. The digital channel's theatrical night continued at 10pm with 100 Years of the Palladium, watched by 678,000 viewers (3.6%) at 10pm.
