Metrodome puts Target Entertainment into administration

Metrodome has put loss-making subsidiary Target Entertainment, which distributes shows including Fifi and the Flowertots, into administration. The company, which spent £800,000 acquiring Target in August 2010 , said it can "no longer continue to provide support to its loss-making subsidiary Target". Metrodome said it believes there is "little prospect" of Target returning to profitability in the near future and a strategic review of the business has resulted in a decision to put it into administration. BDO, which handled the closure of Foyle's War producer Greenlit , which was excluded from Metrodome's original deal to buy Target, has been appointed as administrator. Metrodome issued a profit warning in December thanks to the underperforming Target. Subsidiaries Metrodome Distribution, which handles films including The Secret in their Eyes, and Hollywood Classics are unaffected. Hollywood Classics represents the film libraries of major studios and films such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Godfather and Psycho. • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
