Teen authors on language and love in fiction

Walker Books brought together four authors who write for teens - Michelle Gayle, Martyn Bedford, Mal Peet and Peter Cocks - and contributors to youth magazine Live for a panel discussion on all aspects of teen fiction. After the event, Live editor Celeste Houlker asked the panel a couple of questions especially for the Guardian children's books site: how do the authors find the language to sound authentic to teens, and why do they all have a love story at the centre of their current books. Books mentioned in this podcast: Flip by Martyn Bedford The Long Reach by Peter Cocks Pride and Premiership by Michelle Gayle Life, An Exploded Diagram by Mal Peet
