Dixons: other companies that have changed their names

Other companies that have changed their names in recent years include Aviva, which was accused of ditching 200 years of history when it dropped Norwich Union, and Accenture, which was forced to rebrand from Andersen Consulting as part of its split from Arthur Andersen. The most ill-fated change, though, was the Royal Mail's brief dalliance with Consignia, which ended after barely a year. BA dropped its distinctive red, white and blue tailfin logo for ethnic-inspired designs but reverted to the traditional look after an outcry led by former prime minister Margaret Thatcher. It also caused confusion with air traffic controllers who could no longer tell BA planes from those of other airlines.
