TV advertisers pressured to withdraw ads

A Dominican government official has taken the extraordinary step of writing to 50 companies urging them not to place adverts that might be screened during a popular investigative journalism TV programme. If they do, the director of the country's agrarian institute (IAD) Héctor Rodriguez Pimentel warns them they may face legal action for defamation because, he claims, the programme's host, Alicia Ortega , is conducting a campaign against him.
