Steven Gerrard out of England's friendly against Denmark
Steven Gerrard will miss England's friendly against Denmark on Wednesday after injuring his groin during Liverpool's 1-0 win against Chelsea this afternoon. The midfielder is set to join Fabio Capello's squad but will take no part in what will be the national team's first fixture of 2011. "Gerrard has a got a groin problem," confirmed Kenny Dalglish, the Liverpool manager, after his team's 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. "He will join the squad so they can take a look at him but he won't play." Gerrard would almost certainly have captained England in midweek given Rio Ferdinand's absence with the calf injury he sustained prior to Manchester United's defeat at Wolves on Saturday.
