Little Big Soldier
Jackie Chan wrote the blueprint for this likable 3rd-century martial arts buddy movie and, perhaps sentimentally, casts himself in the role of a simple-soul farmer conscripted to fight in the wars that resulted in China's unification. After a particularly savage bloodbath Chan takes the other side's general prisoner; his plan to cart him home and collect a handsome reward is dashed by some groovily dressed bandits. Now 56, having broken pretty much every bone in his body, he sits out some of the rough stuff, and there is a noticeable twilight mood in the air.
