Prince to curate music festival in Denmark

Prince is planning a music festival in Denmark. The Purple One will headline and curate the NPG Music and Art festival in Copenhagen, a two-day event featuring Janelle Monáe, Chaka Khan and Raphael Saadiq. However, he seems to be leaving it to the last minute. The website for the festival, to be held on 6 and 7 August at Copenhagen's 10-Øren, was unveiled less than a month ago . Prince apparently decided to extend the event from one day to two just 11 days ago. And, er, we hadn't heard. Despite a recent Guardian interview with the 53-year-old, and his triumphant performance at Hop Farm festival last week, nobody bothered to tell us Prince was hosting his answer to Meltdown , just a two-hour flight from London. Perhaps it's because the NPG festival is still sorting things out. Named after the New Power Generation, Prince's backing band, "the festival will play host to real music by real musicians", the singer said. So far, just six of these "real musicians" have been named: Prince, headlining both nights, Chaka Khan, playing both nights, plus Janelle Monáe, Raphael Saadiq, and Sly and the Family Stone bassist Larry Graham. Oh yes, and Nikka Costa is playing twice. Tickets start at 550kr (£65) per day, rising to 1,275kr (£150) per day for the "Purple Lounge VIP Experience". This includes access to the VIP tribune, VIP tent, VIP buffet, VIP toilets, one T-shirt, one cocktail and five beers. It does not include a visit with Prince. Presumably he will be too busy hanging out with Nikka Costa.
