Nile Ranger in line for Barnsley debut after loan move from Newcastle
Nile Ranger is joining Barnsley on loan from Newcastle United. The striker, who could make his debut for the Championship side against Doncaster on Saturday, will remain at Oakwell until mid-January. Although the 20-year-old made several first-team appearances from the bench last season he has largely been excluded from Alan Pardew's senior squad since August. "Nile needs to go out on loan and he needs regular games to help his development as a footballer," said Newcastle's manager. "He has real talent, the time is right for him to go out and play and Barnsley have a very good player for a couple of months." On Thursday Ranger appeared in court to deny charges of assault and being drunk and disorderly. He will next appear before Newcastle magistrates on 12 January to be committed to crown court for the alleged assaults and to face trial for being drunk and disorderly.
