Emma Swain appointed BBC controller of knowledge commissioning
Emma Swain has been confirmed as the new BBC controller of knowledge commissioning. Swain replaces George Entwistle, who has been promoted to BBC Vision director . She has been acting in the role since February. In her new job Swain will oversee eight commissioners and 1,600 hours of BBC TV content a year across arts, music, history, natural history, business, science, religion, consumer journalism and contemporary factual. Swain was formerly head of knowledge TV commissioning and will not be replaced in this job. As part of a reorganisation of knowledge commissioning, Saul Nassé becomes portfolio head for the knowledge and learning online product – a responsibility formerly held by Entwistle and knowledge commissioning controller.
