True Legend

Yuen Woo-Ping is the celebrated choreographer of fight scenes in some of the best martial arts movies, among them Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Tarantino's Kill Bill , and this movie, his first as overall director since 1996, purports to be the biography of a great 19th-century warrior who fell from grace and later created a new style of fighting called "drunken fist". It opens with one of the best action sequences I've ever seen and closes with a brutal encounter between its hero and a team of Russian wrestlers managed by that martial arts colossus, the late David Carradine. In between, there's a confused tale and a couple of sequences filmed in unimpressive 3D.
