Sky1's Got To Dance waltzes away with 1m

More than 1 million people watched the climax to Sky1's Got To Dance on Sunday night. The Davina McCall dance talent show had 934,000 viewers, a 3.9% share, for its live final between 6pm and 7.50pm. Got to Dance: Live Results had another 1.12 million viewers (4%) between 7.50pm and 8.30pm. It was enough to give Got to Dance the second and third slots in the most-watched pay-TV programmes of the day. But it was not able to top Sky Sport 1's Live Super Sunday coverage of Manchester United's 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, watched by an average of 2.3 million viewers, an 11.6% share of the audience between 4pm and 7pm, with a five-minute peak of 3.4 million. Sky Sports 1 also took fourth spot in pay-TV homes with its lunchtime Premier League match, Fulham's 5-0 demolition of Wolves (1pm-4pm: 833,000/6%), while ESPN's live coverage of Newcastle's 1-1 Premiership draw with Sunderland came in 6th (11am-2.30pm: 412,000/3.7%). Sky1's Hawaii Five-0 was also well placed in pay-TV homes, landing in fifth spot (451,000, 1.7%). BBC3's Being Human averaged 844,000 viewers, a 3.2% share, in the 9pm hour, including 114,000 (0.4%) on BBC HD. Round and round and round we go BBC2's latest space exploration Orbit: Earth's Extraordinary Journey began with more than 3 million viewers. The show, in which presenters Kate Humble and Dr Helen Czerski follow the earth's orbit around the sun, had an average of 3.1 million viewers, an 11.7% share, between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday. It was BBC2's second most-popular show of the day, behind – inevitably – Top Gear, with 4.9 million viewers (17.4%) between 8pm and 9pm, including 800,000 (2.9%) on BBC HD. ITV1's Wild at Heart (8.30pm: 6.2 million/23%) and Dancing on Ice: the Skate-Off (6 million/23.3%) combo won the 9pm hour. Other competition in the slot included BBC1's Upstairs Downstairs (5 million/19.2%), which is proving to be no Downton Abbey in the ratings, Channel 4's Homeland (2.4 million/9%) and Channel 5 repeat Ultimate Police Interceptors (800,000/3%). The 8pm hour was also won by ITV1 with Dancing on Ice (6.35pm: 7.2 million/27.6%) and Wild at Heart. Other competition in the slot included BBC1's Antiques Roadshow (8pm: 5.7 million/20.3%), Channel 4's War Horse: The Real Story (1.6 million/5.7%) and Channel 5's movie repeat The Da Vinci Code (6.10pm: 1.7 million/6.5%). All ratings are Barb overnight figures, including live, +1 (except for BBC and some other channels including Sky1) and same day timeshifted (recorded) viewing, but excluding on demand, or other – unless otherwise stated. Figures for BBC1, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 generally include ratings for their HD simulcast services, unless otherwise stated • To contact the MediaGuardian news desk email [email protected] or phone 020 3353 3857.
