Edin Dzeko plays down his Europa League performance

Edin Dzeko was not entirely satisfied with his contribution to Manchester City's passage into the last 16 of the Europa League, expressing regret about his inability to register his first hat-trick for the club after scoring twice inside the first 12 minutes of the 3-0 defeat of Aris Salonika. "I think I can play much better. I wasn't happy with my last chance and it wasn't the first time this has happened," the £27m signing said after a win that leaves Roberto Mancini's side preparing to take on Dynamo Kiev for a place in the quarter-finals. The Bosnia international is showing encouraging signs after his performance in the first leg attracted criticism from his manager. "I'm really happy because it is the first time [for City] I've scored two goals in one game and we are in the next round," he added. "It was really important that we started well and we managed to get two goals in the first 12 minutes. That was important for the team."Mancini was impressed by the striker's performance, saying: "I think he played well; he scored two goals which, for him, was very important."
