BBC radio stars attempt standup for Comic Relief
The Woman's Hour host Jenni Murray and Radio 2 DJ Tony Blackburn are to try standup comedy for Comic Relief. Presenters including Radio 3's Tom Service, Radio 1's Dev, 5Live's Tony Livesey and 6 Music breakfast show host Shaun Keaveny will also perform, with the funniest – voted by listeners – announced on Red Nose Day (18 March). They will be schooled by Mark Thomas and be mentored by Julian Clary, Sandi Toksvig and Miles Jupp. A Radio 4 series will follow their progress. Murray, 60, said she was "terrified" at the prospect of her gig at the Comedy Store in London on 22 February.
