Humber NHS trust goes ahead with Lorenzo
Humber NHS foundation trust has said that testing of the Lorenzo electronic patient record (EPR) system is under way ahead of a full launch planned for this summer. "Humber has created new processes which will be used across the organisation and has completed two of the four cycles of testing based on these processes," a spokeswoman said in a statement to GGC. "The results are very positive with the few software issues identified during testing now included in the Lorenzo go-live build for the trust." She also said that the trust's key IT staff have completed a Lorenzo "train the trainers" course and that a Lorenzo training schedule for staff is being finalised. CSC's work implementing iSoft's Lorenzo EPR software is years behind its original schedule, with only a handful of systems in place across the north, Midlands and east of England. Despite the the US-based firm's poor record in delivering Lorenzo, CSC said it expected its contract with the Department of Health to deliver EPRs under the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) to be extended by one year until June 2017. It said at the time that it could receive between £1.5bn and £2bn more as a result. However, at the end of last month CSC admitted that it may lose an amount in excess of its £943m investment in the project as amendments to its NPfIT work will not be approved by the Department of Health.
