Associated pays INM £150,000 over spoof Sunday Tribune

Associated Newspapers has paid out in the region of £150,000 to Independent News & Media in compensation for running a spoof edition of one its rival's Sunday titles in Ireland. The Irish Mail on Sunday published what looked like a new edition of the Sunday Tribune, a week after the actual newspaper was shut down by INM, its principal shareholder. The stunt, which involved a Tribune-like front and back page, was denounced at the time by INM as a "blatant" attempt to "pass itself off" as the rival paper.
