Leeds today: Eastgate latest, East Leeds buses and Horsforth's worst street

Developer Hammerson is set to submit a new outline planning application for the proposed £650m Eastgate Quarters shopping centre, which aims to regenerate the Eastgate area of the city centre. Hammerson told the Stock Exchange: "We have agreements for leases with anchors John Lewis and Marks & Spencer and a development agreement with Leeds council. A new outline planning application for an improved scheme will be submitted early in 2011." - You can read the full report over at Insider Media . Meanwhile, retail real estate investment trust Metric Property Investments has acquired a Bhs store and its surrounding area in Kirkstall, reports the Retail Gazette . A social campaigner and veteran of the Liberal Party has died at the age of 88, writes Peter Lazenby for the YEP . Joyce Wainwright was married to the late Liberal MP Richard Wainwright, who represented the West Yorkshire seat of Colne Valley from 1974 to 1987, and for an earlier period from 1966. Richard and Joyce Wainwright had two daughters, Hilary and Tessa, and two sons, Martin and Andrew. Problems with bus services being withdrawn from Cross Green and East End Park in inner city East Leeds are featured over at Coven blog . Following a recent competition to nominate the street in the worst state of repair in Horsforth, Broadgate Drive has come top over at Horsforth Let Down by Leeds blog. It notched up 127 nominations. Young people in south Leeds will soon have something to do, somewhere to go and something to say, thanks to a new development on the site of the old Merlyn Rees High School between Belle Isle Road and Middleton Road, reports guest blogger Lucy Chadwick for South Leeds Life . Over on the food blogs, Leeds Foods Leads reviews Fazenda Rodizio Bar and Grill in the city centre while The Good Dr reviews Dough Bistro. The next Leeds Art Walk will take place on 2 March to include a screening of Paul Rooney's Thin Air at Leeds Met University. BBC Leeds reports Derek Procter in Farsley is one of about a dozen growers in the Rhubarb Triangle continuing to harvest the crop. A 34-year-old Halton woman has been issued an £80 Penalty Notice after making a false report of burglary, say West Yorkshire Police . Hospitals in Leeds are seeing the after-effects of December's cold snap with a drop in income as planned operations were affected, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post .
