Wayne Rooney receives support from the Montenegro defender he kicked
Miodrag Dzudovic, the Montenegro defender kicked by Wayne Rooney, has reportedly volunteered to speak on behalf of the England striker and also disclosed that he had received an apology from the Manchester United player. Rooney was given a red card after lashing out at Dzudovic. The striker was later given a Uefa ban which rules him out of all England's Euro 2012 group games. The sending off came in the Euro 2012 qualifier in Podgorica. But Dzudovic, who plays for Spartak Nalchik, told the Daily Star: "I will speak for Rooney if he appeals against his ban. "I don't think it was fair [the punishment]. He just was not thinking in that moment and after that he realised what he had done. He realised immediately what he had done and he apologised to me. I had a slight swelling after the game but I didn't have a bruise." The FA is considering whether to appeal against Rooney's ban.
