Mega Mash-up: Secret Agents v Giant Slugs in the Jungle by Nikalas Catlow and Tim Wesson - review

Mega Mash-up: Secret Agents v Giant Slugs in the Jungle by Nikalas Catlow and Tim Wesson This book gives the child the opportunity to add to the illustrations themselves. It's the first time we have read a book like this. Suitable for boys and girls of 4 years plus. Our eldest grandson loved it, choosing a secret agent to represent himself. Plus, a giant slug - the more revolting the better! Any child that loves drawing and being involved in an action story will enjoy this book and we would love to read more in the series. Great fun!! Grimm's Fairy Tales: Rumpelstiltskin by Saviour Pirotta, illustrated by Cecilia Johansson It was lovely to see and read such a clearly written version of this classic tale with matching simple, bright illustrations. My only criticisms: Rumpelstiltskin meets such a gruesome end that I had to edit his demise. Plus I feel £8.99 is far too expensive for a slim-line classic book. Otherwise it went down very well with the young listening audience. Vulgar the Viking and the Great Gulp Games by Odin Redbeard This little paperback book by 'Odin Redbeard' is speckled with really fun pictures of Vulgar, his friends and his antics. The rude, revolting and unfortunate exploits of Vulgar constantly land him in trouble with his parents, fellow Vikings and even a princess. We read this book a chapter at a time and however much trouble Vulgar finds himself in, he manages to save the day. Even to become a great friend of Princess Freya. A fun book for 4 and 5 year-olds to listen to. If you would like to become a family reviewer, email us at [email protected]
