Peter Taylor to step down as Bradford City manager

The Bradford City manager, Peter Taylor, is to leave his position after Saturday's game against Stockport County, the club have confirmed. The side are currently in 21st position in League Two and have won only three games of the 11 they have played this year. The Bradford City board said that, after discussions with the former England Under-21 coach and stand-in England manager, it was decided that it would be in the best interest of both parties for the manager to leave by mutual consent. The club said Taylor was keen to manage a last game against Stockport, currently in 23rd position in League Two, before stepping down. Bradford's joint-chairman Mark Lawn said: "Everybody would have chosen Peter Taylor out of the candidates that were able to us back because of his CV. The simple fact is that unfortunately it just hasn't worked. "We wish Peter all the best and thank him for his efforts during his time with the football club." Taylor joined the club just over a year ago, on 16 February 2010, after being sacked as Wycombe Wanderers' manager in 2009. Last month he turned down the chance to join Alan Pardew as assistant manager at Newcastle. He has also managed Leicester in the Premier League in 2001, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Hull and Stevenage.
