QPR keen on David Beckham but family commitments could block deal
Queens Park Rangers are still working on a deal to bring David Beckham to Loftus Road but are conscious that the potential finances and the midfielder's family commitments could make signing the former England captain difficult. The deal was discussed when Tony Fernandes, the owner, met Neil Warnock, the manager, last Thursday to discuss transfer policy before the January window. Beckham's current contract with LA Galaxy expires in December. He has been offered a one-year extension by the American club, which he is considering. He is conscious that his children are happy at school in California. The 36-year-old was offered a deal by Paris St-Germain but declined the move to France, saying his family was settled in Los Angeles. However, Warnock is keen to sign him and a highly placed source at Loftus Road said: "It will be tough. But let's see." West Ham United are not interested in signing Beckham, feeling the requisite finance required to sign him would not represent value for a player of his age.
