Olympics: Laurence Halsted on fencing at London 2012

Individual/team Age 26 Born London Honours Silver at 2008 European championships; 2009 British champion " I was watching my event in Beijing in 2008 and the atmosphere generated by the Chinese supporters for their fencers was electric. I've not seen another sporting event quite as highly charged as it was there, and it was even more inspiring thinking that in four years it would be a British crowd cheering for me. I feel that strong support benefits my performance hugely, so competing at a home Olympics is really a dream. The goal for fencing is one medal from all athletes and I want to deliver that goal. I am confident that by then I will be capable of winning the individual but it would also be pretty special to get a medal with our team. Come 2012 we'll be in great shape."
