Irish journalist found murdered

The body of an Irish journalist, Jill Meagher, who was abducted five days ago in Australia has been found in a shallow grave, and a man has been charged with her murder. She had worked in local radio in Melbourne for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). After a court appearance by the man accused of killing and raping her, Adrian Bayley, Jill's husband, Tom, addressed journalists. After saying he had been "humbled by the support of the Australian public", he added: "While I really appreciate all the support I just would like to mention that negative comments on social media may hurt legal proceedings, so please be mindful of that." Jill Meagher (nee McKeon), 29, was born in Drogheda. She had been in Australia for three years Sources: Irish Times / The Australian / Daily Mail
