London 2012 Olympic games: 30 July - today's highlights

Please note all times are in BST (EDT+5). Handball: 2.30pm at the Copper Box GB's women lost 37-16 to the 2008 silver medallists, Russia. Diving: 3pm at the Aquatics Centre Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield came fourth in men's 10m synchronised platform final after a superb start raised hopes. Gymnastics: 4.30pm at North Greenwich Arena Team GB clinched surprise bronze in the Olympics men's team gymnastics with China claiming the gold. Volleyball: 4.40pm at Earls Court The world's top two women's sides, USA and Brazil, faced off in Pool B. USA won the match 3-1. Water polo: 6.20pm at the Aquatics Centre GB's women made their debut against Russia, losing narrowly 7-6. Hockey: 7pm at the Riverbank Arena Fresh from the Falklands "Argentine soil" training incident, Britain's men's hockey team began their campaign with a 4-1 win against Argentina . Swimming: 7.49pm at the Aquatics Centre 15-year-old Lithuanian Ruta Meilutyte won gold in the women's 100m breaststroke , while GB contenders Gemma Spofforth and Liam Tancock missed out on medals. Fun Olympic fact Water polo was originally played with a football that absorbed water until it weighed up to 20lb – the balls in 2012 are between 14 and 16oz.
